This is very cool to have a new home like this! I'm looking forward to some great discussions with old and new friends here.

Sun, August 29, 2004 - 3:52 PMLawrence,
I had no idea that was *you* in the threads my friend Bailey was talking about. Way cool! I hope we'll have a chance to meet face to face one of these days ;->
It's nice to actually *see* you (and others) around here. Shoot, if I'd known you were so good-looking, I'd have gone for you a couple of years ago ;->

Thu, August 26, 2004 - 9:09 PMHey Domina - I am a friend of Caz's but I didn't know you were also a 12b person! Of course I think I was mostly there in 1993-1994 (but who can remember the 90s???) -
-
Re: This Is Great
Fri, August 27, 2004 - 10:28 AMI was there even before that.
Caz would have loved 12b. I'm going to get up to that area and see her one day, but probably after Folsom.

I don't know if anyone remembers it, but I was the one who wrote the post to that intolerant asshole about how the low incidence of Aids in lesbians means that God, like many other men, likes to watch.

Wed, September 8, 2004 - 12:36 AMGoodness. I was one of the many Section Leaders that Howard mananged to corral to lead 12B at one point or another. -

Re: This Is Great
Fri, September 10, 2004 - 6:47 AMHe offered the position to me after C left, but I said no dice.

Re: This Is Great
Fri, September 10, 2004 - 2:36 PMRunning 12B was always like trying to ride a stampede. When Howard was able to offer free flags there was some tangible compensation for the work, but after CIS went flat-rate section leaders had no motivation but the love of the section. As the section grew less lovable there was less and less to recommend the job. -

Re: This Is Great
Sat, September 11, 2004 - 5:47 PMWhen Carolyn quit, the place just completely died. There's an occasional post or three, and Mari's done her best to keep it going, but everyone who had been participating had pretty much left. I check in now and again, and months can pass without a single post. It's happened everywhere on CIS, but it's still sad.

Wed, September 8, 2004 - 2:15 PMHi folks -- I'm a little confused about how this place works -- probably my advanced old age. You'll remember me as Lori R -- I have no idea how my name will show up here. LOL. -

Re: This Is Great
Wed, September 8, 2004 - 2:37 PMYou show as Lili. You can change that if you want by clicking the "account" link at the top of this window, on the right.
Welcome, BTW.

Re: This Is Great
Mon, September 13, 2004 - 9:39 AMLori,
<< I have no idea how my name will show up here. >>
Yeah, I had to mess around with the Tribes software in order to keep it from divulging my real name. After all, there are still a few 12b people out there who would recognize the star of the old TV series "M*A*S*H" and who never connected that identity with my old mask "Adrian C".
. . . actually, I suspect that identification may be becoming obsolete, anyway. I think my face is lengthening or something, as I get older. Gwen now tells me that I look like that Jeremy Brett who played the most convincing Sherlock Holmes ever, in the BBC series of a few years ago. She means it as a compliment.
You, on the other hand, always struck me as looking like Lily Tomlin, or Lillian Gish, or Lillian Roth, -- one of those. Lil Abner, maybe.

Re: This Is Great
Mon, September 13, 2004 - 9:48 AMLori,
<< I'm a little confused about how this place works >>
Tell me about it!, evidently you can't change or delete anything you post after you've posted it, which means I'm STUCK WITH anything I write here . . . geeze, I can't even remember what I've written five minutes later, let alone having to defend something which I accidentally posted a week ago when I meant to send it to my secret hate-letter emailbox designed for self-persecution . . .
But what's all this with the "networks" and the "friends" lists and the "join my inner circle" and stuff like that in people's profiles? Does any of that lead to SOMEthing? I've seen someone with a "Friends" list of 1000 people. And I figure I've known somewhat less than that many people in my entire life. Do you get points for each connection you make, which add up to a prize drawing at the end of the year, or something?

Re: This Is Great
Mon, September 13, 2004 - 10:20 AMAdrian,
The main advantage of having a large network is that it expands the circle of people from whom you can receive information you might want, or to whom you can broadcast information, in the form of listings, requests, and recommendations. However there's a steep curve of diminishing returens: because people tend to know each other here the total number of new people you can add to your network by adding a new friend drops off sharply as your number of friends increases.
That means that there really isn't much point to having 1000 friends - the size of one's network won't be significantly larger than with 100, and won't be a whole lot larger than it was at 50.

Wed, September 15, 2004 - 4:20 PMHi everyone! Wordweaver told me you folks had tribed up and I couldn't resist. It's nice to see both familiar names and faces as well as seeing individuals who knew 12b before my time there.
Don't know about you, but I'm getting a cuddly nostalgic feeling.

Fri, November 18, 2005 - 5:28 PMHmmmm....12b....? I've been away from CIS for a long time. I used to be active in HSX100 and 200. Was 12b a offshoot of those?

Re: This Is Great
Sun, November 20, 2005 - 2:57 AMNo, it was one of the sections, although I never could keep the two forums straight, so I can't remember which one. It was originally called Variations II, if I recell correctly, and then ultimately, the BDSM Lounge.
